This home entailed highly customized work to fit the clients desires. The clients for this home are heavily involved in the film industry and wanted to bring their creative direction to life in their new home. They approached Astra Bay with ideas and pieces of art they wanted the home to accentuate- such as an art piece on the front of the house with backlights, a hand pounded copper sink, seashell light fixture, and RGB lighting throughout.
This build was a large addition on an existing cabin, as seen in the last photo, with the goal of making the cabin fit seamlessly into the addition. The foundation was carefully placed around a very large tree wanting to be kept in place. The property features an outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, timber dining area and a waterfront location with stunning views of the Baynes Sound.
The clients for this home loved a previous waterfront build on Astra Road and decided to replicate aspects of the design. The size of the home was reduced and the great room ceiling was brought down to 18ft. The design was altered to create a courtyard next to the front entrance to create a warm space where the sun sets in the evening for activities, with a slider door entrance access to the garage which is used as a pool table room.
This home features an 18ft architectural wall imprinted with distressed wood and a linear fireplace that is ducted to the garage. There is heated slab on grey floors which is finished with natural polished finished concrete. All the wood throughout the home was milled from the property which produced the 3 large timber posts, a live edge 18ft timber hearth, and all the fir soffiting. The gutters and downpipes were custom sprayed copper for accent. The upper deck features cable railings.
